On Tuesdays at 2:00 P.M., we will have Creative Crafts. I supply the materials and you decide what craft to make!

On Wednesdays at 2:00 P.M., we will have Popcorn Theater.

On Thursdays at 2:00 P.M., we will have Cool Stories.

On Saturdays at 12:00 P.M., we will have Wii Play.

All of these programs will be at the Library.

This project will need the assistance of an adult to help do the cutting.

Wash out the empty milk carton and let dry. Cut out a triangular section about ½” from the bottom of each corner of the carton. Carefully poke a pencil through each side of the bottom tray of the carton to create a perch for the bird. Punch a hole in the top of the milk carton and attach a long piece of twine to create a hanger.

Children will enjoy hanging this bird feeder from a tree branch in the backyard. Remember to check the feeder on a regular basis and refill it with birdseed.

Birds also need drinking water all year long. Birds do take drinks from the snow, but if you want to do something else for the birds, try this. Place a lid of clean water on the railing of a deck or steps

Directions:
1. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper.

2. Take one marshmallow and four pretzel sticks.  Stick one pretzel into the top of the marshmallow for the leg.  Put three pretzels into the front of the marshmallow for toes.   Make as many bird feet as you like.

3. Melt the chocolate chips in the saucepan over low heat.  Stir constantly.  Remove from heat when the chocolate chips are mostly melted.  (The heat from the pan will melt the few chocolate pieces remaining.)

4. Carefully dip the bird feet into the chocolate.  The pretzel toes will want to slide out, and it will be easy to break the pretzel leg.  Use a spoon to help spread chocolate over the bird feet.  Place them on the cookie sheet to dry.

5. Eat the feet.

Variations:
For multi-colored bird feet, use white chocolate chips and add food coloring after the chocolate has melted.

What You Do:

Make sure your pebbles are clean.

Paint words onto your pebbles. You could also use markers instead of paint.

Choose a number of words — people, places, things, action words etc. Some good ones are:

Use your imagination and make sure you draw some punctuation marks on some pebbles as well (comma, exclamation point, period, question mark etc.)

Once the pebbles are painted, let them dry and seal them with hairspray or spray varnish.

Put all the pebbles into a show box or Jiffy Pop container. You can decorate your container with paint or markers as well.

Play a game of poetry pebbles. Each player chooses a number of pebbles from the box and tries to come up with a poem or story.

Makes for a great way to begin a short story for those times when you have writers block!

Large-size bowl
Dry measuring cups
3 sealable, sandwich-size plastic bags

HOW TO PUT IT TOGETHER
1. Into a large-size bowl, dump each ingredient from a dry measuring cup.
2. Toss the ingredients together by shimmyin’ and shakin’ the bowl!
3. Throw the snack mix into 3 sealable, sandwich-size plastic bags.
4. Grab it as a speedy snack on the go!

20 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

3/4 cup peanut butter

1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Press crushed cookies into the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan, reserving a few for decoration. In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar. Stir in the peanut butter until well blended, then fold in the whipped topping. Spread over the crushed cookie base, sprinkle the remaining cookie chunks on top, and freeze for 1 to 2 hours. Thaw 10 to 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
